Privacy & data rights

Your data, your rights.

SPUR runs sovereign Canadian compute. Your data and AI workloads stay in Canada and are never sent to US hyperscalers. This page sets out what SPUR collects, how SPUR uses it, and the rights you have under PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25, and the upcoming Bill C-27 / CPPA.

What SPUR collects

SPUR collects only what is needed to respond to your request and to keep our public services secure.

  • Contact information you submit (name, email, organization) - used for your request and reply.
  • Free-form intake content (your business pain point, compute request description, robotics intake) - used to generate your tailored AI-generated response and is stored in SPUR's internal records.
  • Anonymized site analytics (IP, user agent, referrer at request time) - used for security and abuse prevention.
  • Cookie consent state - preference cookie that records your acceptance of essential cookies.
  • For learners on learn.spuric.com: account email, course progress, certificate state.

What SPUR does NOT do

Reassurance up front. These are explicit commitments, not aspirations.

  • Does NOT sell or share personal data with marketers.
  • Does NOT use your data to train any third-party model.
  • Does NOT send data to US hyperscaler AI APIs (no OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, Azure AI). All AI inference is local on SPUR-owned compute.
  • Does NOT operate ad-tracking on its public site.

Data residency

Your data stays in Canada.

All personal data, intake content, and AI inference run on Canadian-owned infrastructure, in data centres physically located across Canada, under PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25. SPUR does not transfer data to US providers and is therefore not subject to the US CLOUD Act. Backups stay on Canadian-owned infrastructure as well.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25, and the upcoming Bill C-27 / CPPA you have the following rights regarding personal data SPUR holds about you.

  • Access: request a copy of any personal data SPUR holds about you.
  • Correction: ask SPUR to correct inaccuracies.
  • Deletion: request deletion of personal data SPUR holds about you (subject to legal retention obligations, e.g. accounting records).
  • Portability: request your data in a portable machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent: revoke any consent you previously gave.
  • Complaint: contact the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information directly if you believe SPUR has not handled your data properly.
