SPUR's Programs pillar is the human side of the centre. We run free AI courses for everyone from curious kids to working professionals, we award scholarships to Canadian students, and we co-build companies inside our venture studio. The same person who finishes our intro course can graduate into a studio company two years later, that's the design.
SPUR Venture Studio invests in, builds, and operates startups across AI, HPC, quantum, robotics, and education. Founders get GPU compute, capital, talent, and a physical Waterloo campus to work from. It is not just a cheque, it is operating leverage: compute that would cost six figures elsewhere, a 700,000 sq ft campus, mentorship from operators who have shipped, and a path to your first ten customers through the SPUR network.
We back teams that need speed, distribution, and an ecosystem that executes, not pitch-deck companies. Intake takes five to ten minutes and we match founders the same week.
SPUR treats education as infrastructure. A country that wants to build with AI needs a pipeline of people who understand it, from curious kids to working professionals to founders shipping real products. We run that pipeline as a public good: free courses, open compute access, and a studio path from learner to founder.
The first course is written so a ten-year-old can follow it and a skeptical parent can finish it in an afternoon. Every later course ends with something you built, not a certificate for showing up, and capstones run on SPUR's own GPUs.
Circumstances should not decide who gets to build with AI. SPUR scholarships back Canadian learners with funded access to courses, compute, and mentorship, so talent, not budget, sets the ceiling. For learners whose situation should not be the thing that stops them.
Whether you are taking your first lesson, applying for a scholarship, or bringing a prototype to the studio, there is a door in for you. All free to start.
